PRODUCT FOCUS

I

n a pioneering venture for TRRG, five Speedline SCOPE CWS sideloader vehicles and 1,300 sideloader containers went into operation in Colombia earlier this year. The project is a first in Latin America for

TRRG and the first joint venture between subsidiaries HS Fahrzeugbau in Germany & Ros Roca in Spain. The project also represents HS Fahrzeugbau’s first complete vehicle solution delivered outside of Europe. The project is helping the city in its effort to employ a better, more sanitary waste collection system where Bogotå residents can now dispose of waste into large volume 2.2 cubic metre containers that are collected regularly by the sideloading vehicles.

23

SOUTH AMERICA

24

COLOMBIA

This new operation will provide a much-improved process compared to the old method of collecting waste from the streets using open-back vehicles, a practice that presented laborious

and

unsanitary

conditions

for

crew

members

TRRG’s Sales Manager for Latin America, Ana Alcerro played an important role in making this project possible. She said: “It’s significant that the collection system is not just for the wealthy Bogotanos, but collections will also operate in deprived areas where poverty is rife, we’re proud of the opportunity to help show these communities that their health and well-being is important too. “Of course, there is some education necessary but LIME is working with the local government to ensure that all stakeholders are on board and use the new waste systems. “This project has underlined the clear benefits of the TRRG merger creating a larger group that can tap into a diverse product range and how that helps provide solutions together, in this case, a solution in a region where it is absolutely necessary.” The super-efficient Speedline SCOPE CWS vehicles were manufactured

at

HS

Fahrzeugbau’s

facility

in

Emstek,

Germany and shipped over to Colombia in December 2018 and are now fully operational across the city collecting containers manufactured in Tàrrega, Spain, by Ros Roca. When specifying the project requirements, LIME explained the logistical challenges they face, some of which are unique to Bogotá. Thanks to the diverse range of solutions available within TRRG, a solution was relatively simple to determine. The Speedline SCOPE was the obvious choice for LIME as the advanced lifting system is not only developed to handle Ros Roca’s large 2.2 cubic metre containers, it can also deal with the high kerbs often found in Colombia. This allows safer control from within the comfort of the cab making the collection and emptying of sideloader containers extremely efficient. The CWS bodies for the Speedline SCOPE vehicles provides a perfect solution by separating the processes of collection and disposal thanks to a removable body system, meaning that the dedicated collection vehicle can de-mount a full waste body and continue the collection rounds with an empty body, whilst a less specialised vehicle can transport one or more full bodies to landfill for emptying thereby increasing efficiencies and minimising non-productive time of the collection vehicle.

25

SOUTH AMERICA

COLOMBIA

The geography of Bogotá provided a unique challenge, the city is very long and narrow, meaning that there is considerable distance

between

the

collection

areas

in the North and the Southern landfill sites, a long and tedious journey taking hours due to limited road infrastructure. With Bogotá landfill sites so far removed from the collection areas, it makes little financial sense to have a collection vehicle travelling be

He said: “With TRRG now present in Latin America I am pleased that we were able assist in growing the group business in this area whilst also being able to showcase our innovative Speedline SCOPE CWS to help provide a better waste management system

and

standards.

“We are proud to be working in Colombia’s capital

with

such

a

great

project”

With such a successful blueprint for modern urban waste collection now available in Latin America, TRRG are confident of further growth in the market as the decision makers from other cities become

aware of the

tangible benefits that our solutions can offer.

The Speedline changeable body system (CWS) allows quick and safe mounting and de-mounting of vehicle bodies to overcome logistical headaches where material processing or landfill facilities are located far from collection areas.

EUROPE

PRODUCT FOCUS

T

he capital city of Germany, Berlin, holds a population of over 3.5 million people, producing around 1.3 million tonnes of waste each year, a large scale, modern municipal collection operation that Terberg RosRoca Group is proud to be involved with. In January 2019, our German subsidiary, HS Fahrzeugbau (HS) based in the municipality of Emstek, delivered 51 OmniDEKA automatic highlevel bin lifts and 12 Olympus rear loaders to Berliner Städtereinigung AöR (BSR), Germany’s largest municipal cleaning company. BSR are regarded as one of the innovation drivers in Germany’s waste collection industry and exclusively collect the separated domestic waste of Berlin’s two million households using a fleet of 400 RCVs and 1,500 employees to empty 480,000 bins around Berlin. Such a large volume of containers requires an efficient and reliable solution for collection and a landmark contract sees a Terberg bin lift being chosen in Berlin for the first time. Dr.

Thomas

The collection vehicles are based on a narrow track chassis to make manoeuvring around Berlin’s tight city streets easier. Additionally, they significantly reduce the risk of collision damage, something that BSR have experienced when employing standard width vehicles. HS’ determination, professionalism and TRRG’s product quality won BSR’s approval during demonstrations and a two-year lease of two narrow

EXPORT MARKET

TRRG PDI SYSTEM

TRRG Invest in Online Process-Quality Initiative EXPORT PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

T

he last year has seen TRRG’s export team working hard to develop and embed an online

process quality initiative into the manufacturing processes of our global network of dealers. One key objective was to implement a PreDelivery Inspection (PDI) system commensurate with TRRG’s manufacturing sites across Europe, the aim from the outset being to ensure that the customer experience is the same regardless of where a client procures a TRRG product and that the build quality at our dealers is identical to that of a TRRG subsidiary built product. The initiative doesn’t just encompass the PDI process, it also includes an online warranty registration and warranty claims process. With multi-device compatibility, the system can be used across mobile, tablet and desktop devices and
